YOUR TEXT. YOUR DEVICE.

Privacy Policy

TextDiffTool compares text on your device. This page explains what the tool processes, what your browser can store, and what happens when you contact us.

Last updated:

The essentials

  • Your comparison text and imported file contents are processed in your browser.
  • Drafts are saved on your device only when you explicitly save them.
  • The app has no advertising trackers, third-party analytics scripts, or account system.

1. Text and files you compare

Text you type or paste, files you choose to import, comparison results, and merge decisions are processed locally by the application in your browser. Editor content is not sent to our servers, included in page URLs, or used to train an AI model by this application.

The app reads only files you choose through an upload, drop, or supported clipboard action. It does not browse other files on your device. Comparison content is not automatically saved by the app. Your browser may independently restore form contents or tabs according to its own settings.

2. Drafts and browser preferences

When you choose Save draft, the app stores the draft name, both texts, comparison settings, review decisions, and creation and update times in IndexedDB, a database in your browser. Drafts belong to that browser profile and website domain; they are not synchronized to an account or our servers.

You can open My drafts on the comparison page to delete individual drafts or all saved drafts. Clearing this site’s browser data also removes drafts. Browser limits, private browsing, or clearing data can make them unavailable. We cannot retrieve or recover them for you.

If you select a light or dark theme, the app stores that choice in localStorage so it can remember your preference. Without a saved preference, it follows your device’s color scheme. This preference stays until you change it or clear the site’s browser data. The app does not set tracking cookies.

3. Copies, downloads, and reports

Copying text writes your chosen content to your device’s clipboard. Downloads and HTML comparison reports are generated locally and can contain your source text and comparison details. They are not uploaded by the app.

You control where you save or share these files. Your operating system, clipboard manager, browser extensions, or cloud-synced download folder may handle that content according to their own settings. Delete those copies separately when you no longer need them.

4. Requests to load the website

Loading TextDiffTool.com requires ordinary requests to the website’s hosting infrastructure for pages, scripts, styles, and locally served fonts. That infrastructure receives technical request information, such as your IP address, browser request headers, requested URL, and request time, to deliver the site. These requests do not contain your comparison text.

Any operational logs are subject to the hosting provider’s configuration and retention settings. The comparison app itself does not add advertising, third-party analytics, or session-replay services.

5. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, the message, and any details or attachments you choose to include. This information is used to respond to your enquiry, investigate a reported issue, or address a privacy request. Email is handled by the email services involved in sending and receiving it.

Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to address the enquiry and any applicable legal obligations. Please use invented examples for bug reports and avoid sending sensitive documents. You can ask about or request deletion of information you have sent us through the Contact Us page.

6. Your choices

You can use the tool without creating an account, choose not to save drafts, delete saved drafts, and clear site data in your browser. Clearing an editor does not delete an already saved draft or a report you downloaded.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or raise a concern with your local data protection authority. Contact us about information you have sent us. We cannot access or remove browser-only drafts remotely; those remain under your control on your device.

7. Updates and questions

If the way the website handles information changes, this policy will be updated with a new date. For questions about this policy or your privacy, please contact TextDiffTool.
